CM Montgomery
A strong voice for our community

Dear Community:

We have accomplished much in three (3) years and I ask for your support as I seek re-election to the Saint Paul City Council and the DFL endorsement.

My commitment to Ward One hasn't changed. I still believe if our community has access to jobs, quality affordable housing and public safety/crime prevention, the entire community will benefit. One of our biggest accomplishments is the 1000 jobs brought into Ward One over the last three years (that’s almost a job a day since my swearing in). But, that's not ALL we’ve accomplished in three years.

  • We have produced a strong record of success that our community can be proud of. Our community stepped up to the plate to bring in the public/private partnership with the NFL to guarantee the redevelopment dollars for the Jimmy Lee/Oxford Pool Recreation Center.
  • We have encouraged small and large business along the Central Corridor (University Avenue): Mai Village, owned by Vietnamese immigrants; Target Corporation’s new Super Target will bring 200 more jobs in July, 2007. Those, along with Frogtown's Great Northern Corridor Business Center South, which will provide 269 living wage jobs (with 120 more committed), are just a few of Ward One's successes.
  • Diversity is our strength and I have and will continue to make sure our diversity is reflective in the City of Saint Paul's appointed committees and commissions. I worked with Mayor Coleman to secure a Fair Hiring Policy, and created a beneficial partnership with Labor to develop the Apprentice Outreach Program, to assist women and minorities gain career opportunities in the building trades.
  • Our business and residential developments have been smart and reflective of our nation's sustainability goals. Our community will be home to three of Saint Paul's top ranked sustainable development projects. According to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design we are now home to platinum, gold and silver ranked developments. So, whether it's quality-affordable housing for families and seniors, or simply good development, our Community Development Partnerships are making sure our community is leading the way.

As, a believer and supporter of community policing, I have pushed for public safety measures, that motivated by a comprehensive approach of utilizing all city resources to support our families, the Police, Parks and Recreation, Libraries, Code Enforcement, Animal Control, County Services, Schools and Non-profit Agencies, that can assist our residents with crime prevention and public safety.
